Programs That Help Survivors Rebuild with Safety, Strength, and Hope

Your donation helps remove the real barriers that keep women and families, including their pets, stuck in unsafe situations.

Through education, practical resources, and community partnerships, IgniteHer helps survivors rebuild with greater safety, confidence, and support. Explore the programs that empower individuals, strengthen families, and create safer communities.

Who We Help

IgniteHer supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and relationship abuse, including women, children, and male survivors.

We also equip the people around them. Friends, family members, coworkers, employers, and community partners learn how to recognize abuse, respond safely, and connect survivors with meaningful support.

Through education, practical resources, and community partnerships, we help build safer individuals, stronger support systems, and more informed communities.

Self-Defense Workshops are the foundation of IgniteHer’s work, giving women hands-on training in awareness, safety, and self-defense in a supportive environment.

Hosted in partnership with Gracie Largo West, community spaces, and advocacy organizations, our workshops combine education, boundary-setting, and practical safety skills women can apply in real-life situations.

Participants leave with:

  • Increased awareness of manipulation and coercive control

  • Practical strategies to avoid dangerous situations

  • Foundational self-defense skills

  • Greater confidence and personal strength

Demand for these workshops continues to grow. Funding and sponsorships allow us bring our workshops to more women, more locations, and more communities.

When children are pulled from a home during a domestic violence call, they often leave with nothing. No belongings. No comfort items. No sense of what comes next.

Kids First Bags exist to meet that moment. Each bag includes essentials, comfort items, and age-appropriate resources to help children feel safer and supported during a sudden and overwhelming transition.

Through partnerships with local law enforcement, these bags are placed directly into the hands of children at the scene, when they need it most.

Each bag may include:

  • Comfort items like a plush toy or blanket

  • Hygiene essentials

  • Snacks and basic needs

  • Books or calming activities

  • Resource information for continued support

Donations help us assemble and distribute Kids First Bags so a child who leaves with nothing still leaves with something that is theirs.

For many survivors, leaving abuse often comes with immediate financial barriers.

Legal protection often determines what happens next, but too many women face the reality of court costs, attorney fees, and filings they cannot afford in the moment they need it most.

The Justice Fund helps cover urgent legal needs, including protective orders, legal representation, and court-related expenses, when financial barriers stand in the way of safety.

By removing these barriers, the Justice Fund helps women take immediate action to protect themselves, their children, and their future.

For many survivors, leaving is not just about their own safety. It’s about their pets.

Abusers often use animals as a form of control, threatening or harming them to keep victims from leaving. For some women, the fear of what will happen to their pet is enough to keep them in a dangerous situation.

The Purple Paws Initiative exists so no one has to choose between their safety and the safety of a beloved pet.

IgniteHer helps provide:

  • Emergency veterinary exams and vaccinations

  • Temporary boarding through trusted veterinary partners

  • Essential pet supplies including crates, beds, food, and leashes

By protecting pets, we remove a critical barrier that keeps survivors from leaving unsafe homes.

Education & Prevention Programs

Many people don’t recognize abuse until it has already escalated.

IgniteHer provides education that equips individuals, families, and communities recognize the warning signs of manipulation, coercive control, and unsafe relationship patterns before they become dangerous.

Programs include:

  • Domestic Abuse 101 — community education sessions on recognizing patterns of abuse and coercive control

  • Teen Dating Abuse 101 — school presentations on healthy relationships and red flags

  • HR Corporate Training — workplace sessions equipping HR teams and leadership to recognize and respond to domestic violence

  • Financial Abuse Training for Banks — partnering with financial institutions to help staff identify and respond to economic abuse

  • Media interviews and podcast discussions

By increasing awareness early, we help reduce risk, strengthen decision-making, and enable people to recognize and respond to abuse sooner.
